Joannes Benedictus van Heutsz (1851–1924) was military governor of Aceh and governor of the Dutch East Indies, where he was responsible for the deaths of thousands of indigenous people. He was honored with a monument in 1935, but after protests it was renamed to Monument Indië–Nederland in 2004.
